INVITATION AND CALL FOR PAPERS

Environmental Pollution is one of the most challenging problems facing the international community; and has clear and known impacts on human health and natural ecosystems. Understanding and managing environmental relationships associated with economic development, population growth, ecology and human health requires inter-disciplinary interactions and co-operation among social, physical and life scientists. The international symposium on environmental pollution, ecology and human health (EPEHH-2009) aims to bring together engineers, scientists, students, managers and other professionals from different countries, involved in various aspects of environmental science and technology, to exchange and share their experience, new ideas, research results and latest developments in all aspects related to environmental pollution and impact on ecology and human health.

ABOUT THE COLLABORATING INSTITUTIONS*

United States Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA) is the world’s premier regulatory agency for implementing environmental laws. EPA sets national standards, enforce regulations, and identify and try to solve environmental problems. Also shares information with other countries, private sector organizations, academic institutions, and other agencies to achieve overall mission: of protecting human health and the environment.

Savannah State University (SSU), founded in 1890, is one of the oldest public historically black universities in USA. SSU and SVU entered into a MOU in for the exchange visits of faculty and students and academic collaborations of mutual interest.

Defence Research & Development Establishment (DRDE) is an Indian defense research laboratory of the Defence Research & Development Organization (DRDO). Located in Gwalior, it is primarily involved in the research related to detection and protection against toxic chemicals and biological agents.

* Scientists from the above collaborating institutions are taking active part in the symposium

The rate of development of the Indian economy and the growing need for transport, manufactured goods and services brings new pressures on the government to regulate air pollution. The unprecedented rate of industrial and automobile pollution in India requires strict regulatory measures. The proposed interactive session will provide a common platform for environmental engineers, administrative officials, scientists, medical doctors, industrialists and community representatives to discuss the current scenario on various legal, administrative and health issues of environmental pollution in India, and to suggest solutions and policies to be adopted.
